3. Install Plugins using FTP Method

The last process to install WordPress plugins is using FTP, it is useful when you are unable to install a WP plugin using the WordPress dashboard.

In some cases, WP may have file restrictions that don’t allow you to install a plugin from the dashboard. So in this condition, the best way is installing the plugin manually by using FTP method.

The FTP method is not simple as first two methods are.

To use this method first you download the source file of the plugin you want to install (it will be a zip file). After that, you extract the zip file on your PC or laptop.

Extracting the zip file of the plugin will create a folder with the same name of the file. From this folder, you will need to manually upload the plugin to your website using an FTP client like FileZilla.

You can access your host using the FTP manager. If you do not have your FTP username and password, ask your hosting provider and ask them.

Open the FTP client on your laptop or PC and connect to your site using the login and password provided by hosting provider. After getting connected, access the path /wp-content/plugins/

Now, upload the extracted folder to the /wp-content/plugins/ folder on your web server.

Once you have uploaded the files successfully, go to WordPress dashboard and click on the Plugins link menu. Your plugin will get installed successfully.

Now, click on the Activate link below your plugin. After activation configures your plugin settings. All the WordPress plugins have their own settings which differ from another plugin so in this article we will not describe the settings of any plugin.
